Miracle on Lake Avenue celebration, parade get ‘Cozy for Christmas’ Dec. 2
The Miracle on Lake Avenue holiday celebration returns in Storm Lake, Thursday, December 2, offering many activities for families to enjoy.
The lighted holiday parade is set to start at 6:15 p.m. on Lake Avenue. This year’s theme is “Cozy Up For Christmas.” The annual tree lighting ceremony will take place immediately following the Miracle on Lake Avenue Parade outside of Santa’s Castle. Santa Claus will be making appearances throughout downtown.
The night kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with activities sponsored by Storm Lake retailers, with plenty of fun for children:
* Create an Ornament at Paxtons Jewelry
* Cookie Decoration Demo at Storm Lake Bakery
* Christmas Movie at Zone Home Entertainment
* Face Painting by Witter Gallery at Rust’s Western Shed
* Wood Carving Demonstration at Junk Rescued
* Candy Cane Reindeer at Back Roads Finds
* Letters to Santa at The Daily Apple
* Balloon Artist Professor Von Air at Storm Lake Candy Co.
* Mrs. Claus and popcorn treats at Hoffman Flowers with Lakeside Marina.
* Storm Lake High School music students will be performing at Brown’s Shoe Fit.
* BVU’s The Foundry, new to Miracle on Lake Avenue, will offer free hot cocoa, photos with Buford, and door prizes. The BVU Spirit Store will have a pop-up shop selling Beaver gear, and the BVU Choir will perform festive holiday music throughout the evening.
* Santa’s Castle will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 2nd. Admission: $5 for ages 11 and up, $3 for children 2-10 and children 1 and under are free.
Warming stations for a warm drink or holiday treat will be located at the Always Bella, Brown’s Shoe Fit, Buy For Less, The Coffee Tree, El Centenario, The Foundry, Get It Today, Paxtons Jewelry, The Sugar Bowl Gift Shop, Santa’s Castle, The Storm Lake Candy Co., The Uniform Shop and Valentina’s Market.
After the parade, Lake Avenue Lounge hosts a free live music performance by area favorite Neil Anders. Neil will be performing live from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
