IDA GROVE - The Storm Lake spikers battled hard on Thursday night in a road trip contest against the OA-BCIG Falcons. The green and white fell short in a three set loss to the Falcons. The set scores were 19-25, 17-25 and 18-25. “The girls had a lot of energy tonight,” SL Coach Becky Seivert said. “Although we fell short, I felt like we were a completely different team - hustling after the ball, getting on the floor, and most importantly, having fun!”...

ONAWA - The Ridge View football team used a powerful rushing attack on Friday night against West Monona, and took advantage of some turnovers, to take a 30-6 decision for their second win of the season. “It misted most of the night but the temperature was decent and it was a nice night for football,” Raptor coach Dale Tokheim said. “West Monona had a nice little ceremony to remember 9-11.”...

LE MARS - The Storm Lake cross country team got back out on the course Thursday night as they ran at the Gary Meyer Invite. The green and white took fifth place out of the six teams and the girls were sixth overall. LeMars won the boys meet and Spencer took the girls...

HAWARDEN - For the first time this season the Sioux Central Rebels found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard. The Rebels had no answer for a high octane West Sioux offense and fell in a 49-16 decision. West Sioux held a 7-0 lead after the opening 12 minutes and put up 14 more points in the second quarter to take a 21-0 lead at the break...

NEWELL - It was a successful night for the Newell-Fonda Mustangs as they honored their seniors on Senior Night. The seniors helped lead their team to a 55-0 victory over the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines, their third win of the year. Will Pitstick got the Mustangs on the board in the first quarter when he scampered in from 36 yards out with a little bit more than eight minutes left in the quarter, but the point after was no good...

ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia football team was supposed to face Manson-NW Webster on Friday night, but a case of COVID-19 in the Manson program cancelled that contest. Instead, the Warriors were able to find an opponent in the Shenandoah Mustangs and welcomed them in on a wet night. Alta-Aurelia used a handful of big defensive plays in the fourth quarter to take a 13-7 decision for their first win of the year...

SIOUX CITY - On a damp and chilly Friday night, Storm Lake clattered into the locker room trailing Bishop Heelan 10-7, but they came out on fire, tacking four straight touchdowns on the board to salt away their first win of the season, 34-24 in the district debut, and also marks their first road win against the Crusaders...
