By ELIJAH DECIOUS Pilot Tribune Staff Sioux Central’s school district is seeing relatively flat enrollment this year, while Laurens Marathon’s district saw a 12 percent decrease in enrollment at the count certification date for 2018. Statistics provided by Supt. Scott Williamson show an increase of eight students served in Sioux Central, up to 641 from last year’s 633, an increase of about 1 percent. Storm Lake St. Mary’s Middle School student John Ching was selected to perform again this year at the Iowa Junior Honors Orchestra at the All State Music Festival in Ames November 16. John is the son of Louie and Luisa Ching of Sac City. John is an eighth grade student at St. Mary’s. He plays the cello for the orchestra. He and his older brother Paul, a violinist, often play together publicly for fundraisers and for social events. -
