HOLSTEIN - The Ridge View Raptors were close on Wednesday night against OA-BCIG. There were only two runs scored and both of those went to the Falcons in a 2-0 contest. ONAWA - The Ridge View softball team took part in the Western Valley Conference tournament on Wednesday night and nearly came away with the win. The Raptors dropped a tight, 9-7 decision to Kingsley-Pierson to end their run early. Both teams scored twice in the first inning, RV adding another run in the second to go up 3-2. ...

FONDA - The Newell-Fonda baseball team continues to hum along this week as they welcomed in the Cherokee Braves on Wednesday night. Eleven hits and 10 walks for the Mustangs led to 17 runs being scored in a 17-8 victory. Cherokee broke the scoreless game open with two runs in the second as N-F answered in the home half with four. A scoreless third followed as again the Braves jumped out to a lead after a six run top of the fourth, but two more Mustang runs made it 8-6 for Cherokee...

EARLY - It was an area match up on Tuesday night as Newell-Fonda took on the Ridge View Raptors. The Mustang bats woke up late in the game and took a 17-5 decision over the Raptors. Ridge View scored first in the opening inning and held that lead until the top of the third. Newell-Fonda plated four runs in their half of the third but Ridge View equalized with four runs of their own to take the lead back, 5-4...

PETERSON - The Sioux Central softball team built up a comfortable lead early on Wednesday night against South Central Calhoun. They used it to their advantage, taking an 8-3 decision over the Titans. After a scoreless first, the Rebels got a run in the bottom of the second and added five more in the third to go up 6-0. ...

EARLY - It was a close one on Monday night for the Ridge View baseball team when they welcomed in the East Sac County Raiders. One run made all the difference as the Raptors were on the right side of the scoreboard in a 5-4 decision. “It’s nice to win one-run games like this,” RV Coach Shannon Tesch said. “You learn a lot about how your team plays in games like this I’m proud of how we battled.”...

FONDA - The second ranked Newell-Fonda softball team was back in action on Tuesday night as they welcomed in Okoboji. The Mustangs needed five innings to dispatch ‘Boji in a 10-0 decision. After a scoreless first, Newell-Fonda scored five runs in the bottom of the second. They added another in the third and then four more in the fourth...

PETERSON - It was a Twin Lakes Conference matchup on Monday night between the Alta-Aurelia and Sioux Central softball teams. The Rebels were able to take a 10 run win over the Warriors, 14-4 in six innings. Alta-Aurelia held a 2-0 lead after the first inning and held Sioux Central off the board in the second. ...

PETERSON - Sioux Central baseball was able to get back on the winning track on Tuesday night with a 7-1 win against MMCRU. The Rebels had a 2-0 lead after the first but saw it trimmed to 2-1 after the second. A two run third push Sioux Central ahead 4-1. The Rebels added a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings...

ALTA - For the first this season on Tuesday night, the Alta-Aurelia baseball team experienced something they hadn’t done yet. The Warriors were downed by Coon Rapids-Bayard, 12-5 for their first loss of the year. Alta-Aurelia broke the scoreless game open with a run in the bottom of the second. However, the Crusaders scored twice in the third and twice in the fourth, A-A adding a run in the home half of the fourth frame to trail 4-2...

PETERSON - For one of the first times this season, the Alta-Aurelia baseball team faced some adversity when they went against Sioux Central on Monday night. The Warriors found themselves down after five innings, but took over in the final two to win a 14-8 decision...

STORM LAKE/SPENCER - Coming off of a rough week last week, the Storm Lake softball team was ready to begin anew on Monday night and they did just that against the Cherokee Braves. The green and white drew 10 walks and had timely hits to take a 14-1 decision in three innings...

STORM LAKE - It was a dominating effort on the pitcher’s mound on Monday night from Storm Lake’s Mark Eddie. With his defense backing him up, the Tornadoes pitched a shutout against Lakes Conference rival, Cherokee, 8-0. “I thought we played a really good game against Cherokee. Mark pitched a fabulous game and had some really nice defensive plays made behind him,” SL Coach Ben Seaman said. “Offensively, we looked pretty good, top to bottom we had everyone doing a nice job.”...
