FORT DODGE - It was the final meet of the season for the Storm Lake boys swimmers as they went to a District meet at Fort Dodge this past Saturday. The green and white swam their best but were unable to send anyone to the State meet. “Even though we didn’t qualify anyone for the State meet, we were pleased with our results at the district meet,” SL Coach Jaymie Bral said. ...

STORM LAKE - The Ridge View boys, much like the girls did earlier on Monday night, got off to a quick start against St. Mary’s and used that to springboard to a victory. Ridge View got their ninth win of the year after a 56-27 decision. The Raptors claimed a 10 point lead after the first quarter, 16-6. They continued to add on to that advantage, outscoring the Panthers by 15 points in the second quarter to go up 37-12 at halftime...

STORM LAKE - The St. Mary’s girls fell into an early hole on Monday night against Ridge View and never were quite able to get themselves out. The Panthers battled but the Raptors never let them get back into the game, taking a 59-49 decision. Ridge View started the game on a 9-0 run as the Panthers didn’t get on the board for more than four minutes to start the game. ...

SANBORN/NEWELL - The Sioux Central boys had a nice lead at halftime on Monday night against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn but lost their intensity in the third quarter. This allowed HMS to fight back and ultimately steal a 64-63 decision over the Rebels. “We came out of the gate tonight with energy and a high motor and really dictated the first half,” Rebel Coach Stephen Tjaden said. “Unfortunately we let our guard down defensively in the third quarter and allowed them to get back in it.”...

NEWELL - The top rated team in 1A, Newell-Fonda, ended the regular season on another dominating note on Tuesday night when they welcomed in the Sioux Central Rebels. The Mustangs collected their 21st win after taking a 77-41 decision over the Rebels...

Midway through the third quarter, the green and white found themselves up by 13 points, but the Wolverines began to press and that changed the complexion of the game. Iowa gas prices have fallen 2.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.23 early this week. Hunters reported harvesting nearly 94,000 deer during Iowa’s 2019-2020 hunting seasons, which is a decline from 2018-19, when hunters reported nearly 108,000 deer.
