PETERSON - One rough inning made a world of difference on Tuesday night for Sioux Central as they went against Spirit Lake, dropping a 15-2 decision. The Rebels got on board in the bottom of the first with a run. However, Spirit Lake went on a big run, scoring four runs in the top of the second, one in the top of the fourth and then 10 in the top of the fifth. Sioux Central got one across as the game came to an early end...

PETERSON - Sioux Central’s boys put on a heartstopper on Tuesday night against Okoboji. The two teams battled all night long, going eight frames, but the Rebels pulled out a 9-8 victory. Sioux Central scored twice in the bottom of the first and two more in the second to take an early 5-0 lead. Okoboji slowly got back into the game with a run in the top of the first and two more in the fifth, but the Rebels got one back in the home half of the fifth, the score 6-3...

POCAHONTAS - If a baseball fan loved a lot of offense, they were in luck on Wednesday night when St. Mary’s took on Pocahontas Area. The Indians denied the Panthers a chance at a win, taking a 16-11 decision. St. Mary’s got up early, scoring three runs in the top of the first, but PAC was able to get one of those back in the home half. ...

TORM LAKE/POCAHONTAS - The Panthers came close to getting that elusive first win on Tuesday night against Southeast Valley, taking a slim lead to the seventh inning. The Jaguars were able to produce in the clutch, taking the potential win away, 7-3...

ALTA - It was another match up between two schools close to Highway 7 on Wednesday night. With the backdrop of the races to provide the soundtrack, Alta-Aurelia zoomed out to a 4-2 victory over Newell-Fonda. STORM LAKE - It was a non-conference tilt between two local teams on Tuesday night as the Storm Lake and Newell-Fonda baseball teams went to war for seven innings. For the only time in his seven-year career leading the Storm Lake School District, Superintendent Carl Turner has asked the school board to deny a request for a student to open-enroll into the local schools.
