FORT DODGE - The Storm Lake boys swim team took part in the regional swim meet on Saturday and despite 13 personal bests and a new school record, no one was able to advance on to the State meet next weekend. Storm Lake had 74 team points. Junior Cole Keenan set a new school record in the 200 freestyle and set a personal best in the 100 free with a time of 52.5 seconds. Coach Roger Peterson stated that Keenan also had strong legs in the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay...

EMMETSBURG - The Panther boys just could not quite get over the hump on Friday night as they bowed to the E-Hawks, 55-38 for their seventh straight loss. St. Mary’s kept it close in the first quarter, only down by two at the horn, 11-9. They continued to play close with Emmetsburg in the second frame, but were down by six at half, 23-17. ...

EMMETSBURG - It was another rough night for the St. Mary’s girls on Friday night as they dropped a 62-30 decision to the E-Hawks for their 10th Twin Lakes Conference loss of the the season. Emmetsburg had a seven point lead over the Panthers after the first eight minutes, 16-9. ...

SIOUX RAPIDS/GRAETTINGER - The Sioux Central boys basketball team jumped out against Clay Central-Everly on Thursday night and walked away with a 92-35 victory, their 10th on the year. Sioux Central wasted little time getting the ball rolling, opening up a 17 point lead after the first quarter, 26-9. ...

SIOUX RAPIDS/GRAETTINGER - The Rebel girls are beginning to catch fire at the right time with regional play around the corner. On Thursday evening they were able to dispatch Clay Central-Everly, 68-40. Sioux Central started slowly, only mustering nine first quarter points but were able to hold CCE to six for a three point lead. The second frame saw the momentum shift to the Rebels who put up 22 points while holding the Mavericks to seven, 31-13 the halftime score...

NEWELL/ALTA - The Mustang girls jumped out early against the Cougars and never looked back on Thursday night, Newell-Fonda taking a 67-40 decision against Manson-NW Webster. The fourth ranked Mustangs got out to a big lead after the first quarter, 16 points, going up 19-3. They continued to build on that advantage by outscoring Manson by seven in the second, 21-14, the halftime score reading 40-17...

STORM LAKE - The Storm Lake boys looked to have the advantage over the sixth best team in 3A, Spirit Lake, through most of the first half. The second half told a different story as Storm Lake faltered down the stretch against the Indians, dropping a 74-58 decision...

STORM LAKE - For the first time since 2010 the Storm Lake girls basketball team was able to knock off the Spirit Lake Indians as they took a thrilling 41-40 game on a last second shot from senior Briana Soto. The win ends a 15 game skid the Tornadoes had against the Indians...

ALTA - For 36 minutes on Friday night, two of the better teams in the Twin Lakes Conference went head to head with Newell-Fonda holding the advantage through most of the night. However, Alta-Aurelia was able to storm back from numerous 10 point deficits to take a 56-54 decision in overtime and denied the Mustangs the outright Twin Lakes Conference title...
