On January 2, at approximately 8:39 p.m., at the intersection of Lake Ave. and E 10th St. in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Breanna Platt of Storm Lake, was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by Ericka Garcia of Strom Lake. The two vehicles collided causing total damages estimated at $2000. Garcia was cited for Failure to Stop in Assured Clear Distance, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, and No Valid Driver License.

The SLPD would like to warn citizens of a forgery trend that could rip off the unsuspecting and unobservant. The SLPD recovered a counterfeit $100 bill from a business last month. Several similar bills in other denominations have been recovered across the United States in the past two years. Former Sac councilman released in sexual abuse case

Gas prices remain stable, SL remains below average

Average retail gasoline prices in Iowa rose just half a cent per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.42/gallon to start the week. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.48. Storm Lake prices were stable at $2.28 for many stations. Including the change in gas prices in Iowa during the past week, prices yesterday were 4.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 2.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago...

ICCC makes its case for bond referendum vote
