In a study session Monday on railroad crossings, a representative of the Canadian National Railroad approached the Storm Lake City Council to suggest that some crossings be closed. A year ago, the City was notified by the DOT that funding would be available to erect crossing signals at some unprotected intersections such as Barton, Oneida, Hudson, Gilbert and Radio Road streets, with the Department of Transportation and the CN Railroad paying the cost, along with a smaller amount of funding from the City.. ...
