Peterson continues service as officer to the ISU Alumni Association Board of Directors

Kathy Peterson of Alta, Iowa, will continue as an officer to the ISU Alumni Association Board of Directors serving as the immediate past chair. Peterson is a 1995 Iowa State University graduate in speech communication and is a life and business member of the Alumni Association.

Peterson is the president and founder of PeopleWorks. She and her husband, Tim, are also active in their fifth-generation family farm. While attending Iowa State, Peterson was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, a student board member of the American Society for Training and Development, and a research assistant. Peterson has returned to the university several times to speak to classes and student organizations, as well as supporting ISU Athletics through her membership in the Cyclone Club and is a season football ticketholder at Jack Trice Stadium.

The role of the ISU Alumni Association Board of Directors is to establish policies regarding the finances, property, management, and activities of the Association for the purpose of engaging constituents in the further advancement of Iowa State University and the Alumni Association. The ultimate objective of the board is to assist the Association staff and volunteers in carrying out the mission and strategic plan in collaboration with the strategic goals of the university and other affiliated organizations, which include learning, scholarship, and engagement.

The board is composed of 20 regularly elected members and four appointed voting members. New directors are elected annually, each for a four-year term. The board meets four times yearly. As a member of the ISUAA Board of Directors and as a former chair, Peterson has served on the executive, governance, officers nominating, and CEO evaluation committees, and has been the chair of the internal organization and diversity committees.
