Remember the disabled

Friday, October 22, 2021

Today, the Governor proved once again that she doesn’t care about Iowans living with disabilities. She promised that privatizing Medicaid would accomplish three goals – stabilize the Medicaid budget, provide better health outcomes for patients and save taxpayer money. It’s clear from the Auditor’s report that this is not the case at all.

Iowa’s Disability Community has been sounding the alarm on this poorly-run program for nearly six years. Under Governor Reynold’s failed leadership, Iowa families have lost trusted caregivers and faced endless appeals and red tape all while being denied the care they need to not just survive, but thrive.

The Governor can’t ignore us and this crisis any longer. We’re calling on her to finally meet with leaders in the disability community who have experienced the consequences of her failed privatization scheme.
