DNR: no issues with Alta sewer project proposal

Friday, October 8, 2021

An environmental review has been performed for the City of Alta Sanitary Sewer Collection System Improvements Project, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

This project has previously been reviewed by the DNR and a Categorical Exclusion was issued in August. This exclusion would need to be reaffirmed to include the lining of manholes within the sanitary sewer collection system. The DNR was made aware of the addition to the scope of the project in late September. The DNR and the State Historical Preservation Office has concurred that no historical property would be impacted by the project, and no impact on environmental criteria is anticipated.

The DNR will not take final approval action for at least 30 days, allowing for any public comment on the project.
