STILL STANDING

Alta City officials continue to negotiate with the owner of the dilapidated Danish Lutheran Church to have the building demolished. The city had asked that the building be removed by May 1, but there is still no date for removal, according to Mayor Kevin Walsh, who said he hopes that a solution can be arranged within the next month or two. The Gothic Revival style church was built in 1887 at a cost of $1,000. It has been vacant or used for storage for years, with the city first sending notices on its condition in 2002. It was one of four properties the city targeted as eyesores or hazards in early 2020. / Pilot photo by Dana Larsen
