Alta P.E.O scholarship awarded to Sierra Hill

The Alta P.E.O. awarded the annual scholarship to Sierra Hill, a graduating senior for the Alta-Aurelia class of 2021. Her integrity and strength of character were key aspects for selecting her as the recipient.

The $400 scholarship is for the 2021-2022 academic year where she will be attending University of Northern Iowa pursuing a career in Physical Education and Health.

Sierra is regarded by many as a leader as evidenced by her role as a captain of the volleyball team, lead roles in plays and musicals, member of the 4- H county council, leadership team on Fellowship of Student Athletes, officer on student council and selected for the HOBY leadership camp, and National Honor Society. She is supportive and encouraging to those around her to do their best.

Sierra has been involved in multiple school activities: volleyball, basketball, golf, softball and soccer manager. Music including choir and band, receiving multiple outstanding soloist awards for jazz band and choir, solo and group ensemble. Speech both individual and group presentations. She is involved with mentoring of the elementary students, Big Sister program and reading to and with the students. Even with all these activities and busy schedule through out high school, Sierra has achieved academic success. Sierra is involved with church and community activities such as VBS teacher, Kids for Christ leader, backpack program, Operation Christmas child, food collection for food bank.

P.E.O. is a womenís organization that is dedicated to the furthering the education of women. During the organizationís 150 year history, millions of dollars have been awarded to assist women in achieving their academic goals by seeking out women who display leadership potential, concern for society through service to others, and who utilize their individual talents, and are highly motivated toward continued education.
