Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve volunteers Steve Waller and Dave Kimbell presented to the City of Alta and Brad Pedersen, City Street Supervisor, the coveted ESGR “Patriot Award” on March 20th. Sp/4 Tom Lane, former employee and a member of 2168th Transportation Co, IANG, recommended his supervisor, Brad Pedersen, and the City of Alta, for their supportive actions during his drill schedule, subsequent annual training, and other requirements during the past year.

The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

ESGR has the unique characteristic for a government organization of relying on nearly 3,500 volunteers across 54 state committees to carry out local engagement with Service members, employers, and to conduct informal mediation between civilian employers and Service members when issues arise related to military service.
