Alta FD sets Aug. weekend for anniversary and fundraiser
The Alta Fire Dept. is making plans for its 140th anniversary celebration and annual fundraiser to be held Aug. 21st and 22nd with a weekend of activities and an appreciation meal. Activities will be publicized as plans evolve.
The department’s official anniversary year was 2020 with the celebration postponed due to COVID and has been rescheduled for this year. Last year’s annual fundraiser, typically an August event, went on as planned with revisions. Brochures were mailed to residents in the Alta fire district with donation information, but the appreciation meal was canceled.
Every year a fundraising project is chosen based on the needs of the community and department, with the fundraiser being held to raise money for essential equipment.
“Our fundraiser this year is focused on rescue tools to go on our new rescue truck we had just ordered. These rescue tools will be easier to handle and are battery-operated,” Natalie Meyer, the department’s EMS Director and Facebook and PR representative, said.
