Halvorson Trane has announced the award of a $500 scholarship to NIACC student, Josh Larsen.

Larsen, from Rembrandt, is a second year student in the Heating & Cooling program at NIACC.

Larsen chose to pursue the NIACC Heating and Cooling program because some of his family members went to NIACC, and because he heard it was a great program to go into.

“My uncle owns a commercial refrigeration company, so that’s how I became interested in the HVAC industry” Larsen commented. “Also, since I love to work with my hands, it would be difficult for me to work at a desk all day.”

Larsen used the funds from the Halvorson Trane scholarship to purchase some of the tools he needed for his HVAC classes, tools he will be able to use for his future job as well. “I now live in my own apartment, and money is extremely tight,” Larsen said. “I would like to thank Halvorson Trane for this scholarship. It helps a ton!”

“Halvorson Trane is proud to support the HVAC professionals of the future,” commented Steve Crocker, Service Manager of Halvorson Trane. “We are always looking for well-trained individuals who are excited to work in a dynamic environment. NIACC has a first class HVAC program and does a great job training students, and we are confident that Mr. Larsen will be successful in his chosen career, perhaps with a company like Halvorson Trane.” Crocker serves on the NIACC Advisory Board Committee for the Heating and Air Conditioning Technology department at NIACC.

Halvorson Trane awards scholarships each year to outstanding second year NIACC students pursuing HVAC careers. Halvorson Trane also offers a HVAC Apprenticeship Program that is sponsored by the Iowa Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC).
