SLHS students win scholastic art honors
Storm Lake High School Art students, Zuliema Martinez and Jack Huss received Scholastic Art Awards. Scholastic Art and Awards recognize student achievement in the visual and literary arts in 28 categories, including architecture, painting, flash fiction, poetry, printmaking, fashion design, expanded projects, and more. It is the longest running and most prestige competition. It is very competitive with Gold Keys awarded to 5-7%, Silver Keys awarded to 7-10%, and Honorable Mention awarded to 10-15%. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of personal voice or vision. Students’ entries are blindly adjudicated by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts. Congratulations.
