Alta’s Peterson elected ISU alumni chair

Kathy Peterson of Alta, has been elected chair of the Iowa State University Alumni Association Board of Directors. Peterson is a 1995 Iowa State University graduate in speech communication and a life member of the Alumni Association.

Professionally, Peterson brings a strong background in human resources and talent development to the ISUAA Board. She founded PeopleWorks in 1998 and travels throughout the United States to conduct leadership and employee training, human resource consulting, and keynote presentations.

The role of the ISU Alumni Association Board of Directors is to establish policies regarding the finances, property, management, and activities of the Association for the purpose of engaging constituents in the further advancement of Iowa State University and the Alumni Association. The ultimate objective of the board is to assist the Association staff and volunteers in carrying out the mission and strategic plan in collaboration with the strategic goals of the university and other affiliated organizations, which include learning, scholarship, and engagement.

The board is composed of 20 regularly elected members and four appointed voting members. During her tenure on the ISUAA Board of Directors, Peterson has chaired the governance and strategic plan goal 3: internal organization and diversity committee, and has been active with the executive, governance, and CEO evaluation committees and the ISU alumni clubs advisory work group.
