About 50 motorcycles with more than 60 riders took to the road for the fundraiser event, “Power Solutions 4th Annual Ride for a Cause,” on July 25th. The caravan made seven stops between Alta and Spencer and waved to an 8-year-old Makenzie Connor in Spencer who is battling leukemia. Her parents are TJ Connor and Heather Marchand.

The event was organized by Derek and Kendra Wall, owners of Power Solutions, Inc., in Alta, along with their staff and volunteers. “We couldn’t do this without them,” Kendra said. The word got out through online advertising and word-of-mouth.

The weather cooperated and was a little warm, Derek said, but once on the road it was good. The organizers said when the drive-by parade of motorcycles rode past Makenzie’s house in Spencer, she was shy, overwhelmed and very happy.

The annual event welcomes anything on wheels, and in past years vehicles were part of the caravan. This year, it was all motorcycles.

At the end of the day back in Alta, there were games and prizes which added to the donations already received to help the Connor family.

More than a dozen area businesses sponsored the event.
