Alta-Aurelia Individual State Speech

Friday, March 20, 2020

The Iowa High School Speech Association made the thoughtful decision to cancel Individual State Speech Contests that were scheduled around the state for Saturday, March 14 and the All-State Festival on March 30. State Contest means a large crowd of students and spectators from several school districts. Speech Teams were given approval to hold sessions with judges to still get their State performances in. Alta-Aurelia Warrior Speech partnered with a couple of area schools for a “mini contest” on Saturday at OABCIG High School. It was a small gathering of performers, coaches, judges, and some parents. The Warrior Speech Team wrapped up the speech season with 12 straight I’s (I, I, I), three mixed I’s ( I, I, II), and one straight II (II, II, II). Individual Speech performers include (pictured, front row) Joelle Arnts, Lydia Feis, Ellie Kaskey, Sydney Stanton, Brennan Shea, (back row) Grace Arnts, Madlin Wipperling, Sierra Hiil, Abigail Marcos and Caden Shea. Because speech teams are holding their State performances on different days, All-State nominations were tabulated and released from Saturday. Brennan Shea was nominated for All-State for his Prose performance. Brennan is a sophomore and this is his second year of being named as an Individual All-Stater. / Photo submitted
