St. Mary’s State large group contest

Storm Lake St. Mary’s High School attended district speech on January 25. Three out of the six groups are advancing to State Large Group in LeMars on February 8.  The three qualifying teams are two short film groups, “The Spooning” and “The Fax” and TV news group “I.D.I.O.T. News.”

The short film group competing “The Spooning” includes Sam Peters, Logan Merten, Chase Hurd, Mason Laven and Toby Jones. “The Fax,” a short film, consists of Bennett Smith, John Heitman, Josh DeLira, Lane Carlson and John Ching. TV News students are Logan Merten, Bethany Pariseau, Ariana Elsden, Erika Petersen, Gracelin Dahlhauser, Chase Hurd, Ellie Bacon, Danika Demers, Emily Nothwehr and Toby Jones.

The three events that competed at districts but are not going to State Large Group include Group Mime - Bennett Smith, John Heitman and Mason Laven, Readers Theater - Bianca Limones, Ellie Bacon, Emily Nothwehr, Erika Petersen and Karley Mills, Group Improvisation - Elly Richardson, John Ching, Josh DeLira and Lane Carlson.
