On Tuesday, September 17th and Wednesday September 18th, members of the Newell Fonda FFA assisted Iowa State University Extension with hosting Ag Citing Day at the ISU Allee Farm south of Newell. Area fourth graders came to the farm to learn about a variety of agriculture topics.

Newell-Fonda FFA members educated students about animals. Paige and Lexi Roberts brought in a cow/calf pair while Beth and Ryan Greenfield brought in a horse to teach about. Fourth graders learned some basics about raising and caring for each of the animals as well as requirements for showing the animals at the county fair. 4-H and FFA opportunities were also discussed. At the end, each fourth grader was given the opportunity to pet the animals using proper safety protocols. It was a great session which proved to be successful.

Other members of the Newell Fonda FFA helped guide classes around the farm from station to station. FFA members also helped monitor lunch games and activities as well as assisted other presenters with teaching.
