Alta Kiwanis Notes

Alta-Aurelia School Superintendent Lynn Evans was guest speaker Tuesday morning. He spoke on a  variety of topics. The tax rate in Alta to $9.88 compared to $9.76 last year. The uniform levy increased to $4.50. Mr. Evans is retiring after this school year. Currently four candidates are being interviewed  for Superintendent. All four are from outside the area. The interview process will continue through this week. Staff turnover and retirements:  This year staff turnover will be the largest it has been over the past few years. Retirees include five teachers, Superintendent, one custodian and one cook. In addition, a couple  of teachers will be leaving the area. 

school board membership:  Since consolidation the school board has been reduced to seven members. Three board positions are up for election in 2019. In 2020, four positions will comeup for election. At this time the board will transition from seven members to five members.

Projects in the works:  Replacement of the elementary boiler, new football bleachers, tuck-pointing and replacement of some windows. 

Enrollment:  Alta and Aurelia student total is 780.

Kiwanis business:  May 3---  Next can and bottle collection.

Apr 25----  Division 6 Council Meeting Sac City 7pm.

May 3--- Ditch cleaning. H.S. Community Service Day.

May 14--- Board meeting.

May 23--- Home opener of summer ball season.
