A-A trip to Chicago 2019
The Alta-Aurelia Music Department took 77 students and 12 chaperones to Chicago, Illinois for our High School Music Trip on March 13th. This is a trip that occurs once every four years, or once in our high school studentsí music career. Students who traveled on the trip are enrolled in either high school band or choir and fundraised on their own to travel on this trip.†
Some of the highlights of the trip included: Chicago 360, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Magnificent Mile, Blue Man Group, Mamma Mia, Museum of Science and Industry, and seeing some unique sights to Chicago, including the Willis Tower, Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, and the Cloudgate sculpture. Our concert band and concert choir had clinics with music faculty at DePaul University, and our jazz band and jazz choir performed at the Museum of Science and Industry.†
The Music Department would like to thank the following people and groups: Tom Ryherd, Lynn Evans, and the Alta-Aurelia School Board for approving the trip; Tammy Carlson and the Alta-Aurelia Music Boosters for helping defray travel costs and tickets to see the Blue Man Group; the adult chaperones for helping make sure our students were safe and accounted for at every destination; all of our music parents for supporting and encouraging their students to make music in high school; and, of course, our students for being so dedicated to making music with passion and excellence.
