Ridge View boys bow in close contest
MAPLETON - For the first three quarters on Tuesday night in the Ridge View and MVAOCOU, points were hard to come by for both teams. Neither school broke the double-digit mark for points in a quarter until the fourth when the offenses came to life. The Raptors found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard, dropping a 41-37 decision to the Rams.
Ridge View held a slim one point advantage following the first quarter, 9-8. The second period saw the Raptor offense go dormant against the Rams, scoring only three points to fall behind at halftime, 17-12.
The offenses continued to struggle in the third quarter as both teams put up eight points, Ridge View still trailing by five going to the final stanza, 25-20. In the final eight minutes Ridge View nearly matched their entire game total with 17 points, but it wasn’t enough to get past MVAOCOU.
RV senior Jacob Tokheim had a team high 16 points and three steals. Sophomore Caleb Kistenmacher added eight points, senior Jake Kliegl seven and senior Austin Degen six. Sophomore Bo Clausen came off of the bench and led the team with 12 rebounds.
The Raptors went 13-of-45 shooting overall and 2-of-19 from behind the arc. They went 9-of-15 from the charity stripe. Ridge View hit the boards well with 36, 20 coming on the offensive glass.
Ridge View falls to 4-8 and 3-3 in the Western Valley Conference. Tonight they take on conference front runner OA-BCIG in Ida Grove. The Falcons sport a 10-2 record and are 6-0 in the WVC.
