WEST BEND/SPENCER - The Sioux Central Rebels boys basketball team got back at it on Friday night with a 59-36 win over West Bend-Mallard to keep atop of the Twin Lakes Conference race.

The Rebels jumped out to an early 11-point lead after the first eight minutes of the contest, 17-6. They added to their advantage in the second frame, outscoring WB-M by five to take a 35-19 score to the locker room.

Sioux Central once again outpaced the Wolverines in the third period, holding a 23-point edge going to the fourth frame, 51-28. Both schools scored eight points in the fourth quarter.

Senior Logan Grote picked up 10 points and had four assists. Senior Jake Hanson had seven points, seven rebounds and five assists.

“We had a lot of guys contribute tonight, and that’s what we will need down the stretch this season,” Tjaden said.

The following night, Sioux Central went to Spencer to make up an earlier game that was postponed due to the weather. The Rebels gave it all they had but came away with their first loss of the season, 54-47.

Spencer held a four point lead after the first quarter, 15-11. The Rebels were unable to cut into that lead before halftime, now down by six, 28-22. Sioux Central took a point off of the deficit in the third quarter, 39-34. However, Spencer made more plays down the stretch to hand Sioux Central their first loss of the year.

Decker was the lone Rebel in double figures with 19 points and had four assists. Junior Caleb Rock came off of the bench to add eight points as Hanson and senior Ben Hargens had six points each. Grote had four points, six rebounds and seven assists.
