On the evening of November 13 at approximately 11:03 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of West Milwaukee Ave. for a traffic violation. Officers determined the driver, Leonard Allen Weimer, age 42, of Nemaha was intoxicated. Weimer was arrested and processed for Operating while Intoxicated. Weimer was transported to Buena Vista County Jail where he became belligerent with the officer and had to be physically subdued. Weimer was charged with Operating while Intoxicated – 2nd Offense, an aggravated misdemeanor, Interference with Official Acts, Open Container of Alcohol, and Careless Driving, all simple misdemeanors. Weimer was held on $2900 bond.
On the morning of Wednesday November 14 at approximately 7:23 a.m. the Storm Lake Fire Department was dispatched to St. Mary’s School, located at 312 Seneca Street, in reference to an automated fire alarm.
Upon arrival of fire fighters they determined that steam generated in the kitchen when an oven door was opened had activated the alarm.
There was no fire and no action taken.
Fire fighters were on scene for approximately 10 minutes and were assisted by the Storm Lake Police Department and St. Mary’s maintenance staff.
On November 13 at approximately 7:31 a.m., at the intersection of Superior St. and E. 1st St. in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Maria Cardenas-Salvador of Storm Lake, was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by Marisela Parra Rosales of Alta. The two vehicles collided causing total damages estimated at $3000. Cardenas-Salvador was cited for Failure to Yield to Vehicle on Right.
On November 13 at approximately 8:14 a.m., at the intersection of Lake Ave. and W. Milwaukee Ave. in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Jared Henkenius of Arcadia, was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by Jose Garcia-Medel of Storm Lake. The two vehicles collided causing total damages estimated at $3600. Garcia-Medel was cited for No Valid Driver’s License and Failure to Maintain Control.
