A Storm Lake man has lost his life as a train collided with an agricultural sprayer Wednesday. The accident took place at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of 170th Avenue and 620th Street in rural Buena Vista County.

Kyle Drey, 33 was ejected from the equipment he was operating, and pronounced dead at the scene by the county medical examiner's office.

The sheriff's department, Newell fire and ambulance crews, and Buena Vista Regional Medical Center paramedics responded to the scene. Investigation of the accident is continuing.

According to Sheriff Kory Elston, the Canadian National train had been eastbound and it appears that the sprayer had been moving east and then turned north to cross the tracks. The collision drove the sprayer into the ditch where it rolled over.

Numerous agencies assisted at the scene. Memorial services for Drey are pending at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
