WALL LAKE - The bats were hot on Monday night for the Mustang ladies as they had 20 hits in five innings against East Sac County. Those 20 hits came into play in a 15-3 victory over the Raiders.

N-F got on the board early with three runs in the top of the first. ESC fired back with two in the home half, putting that Mustang lead down to one. However, Newell-Fonda scored four times in the top of the second, East Sac just once in the bottom, to go up 7-3. N-F got two more in the top of the third and six more in the top of the fifth to get up by 12. The defense shut down at ESC offense to bring the game to an early end.

N-F junior Olivia Larsen picked up the win. She allowed six hits, a walk, three runs and struck out three.

Mustang freshman Maggie Walker went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs as fellow freshman Ella Larsen fell a home run short of the cycle and had four RBIs. Freshman Ellie Lago added a double and two RBIs. Junior Emma Stewart and Olivia Larsen had three hits each and combined for three RBIs and three steals.

Newell-Fonda improves to 12-6 and 5-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They stepped out of conference on Tuesday on the road against 5-9 Ridge View and will host 3-9, 2-4 St. Mary’s tonight.
