Phyllis Rohlfsen, age 83, of Newell, Iowa died on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of the arrangements.
Phyllis Rohlfsen, the daughter of William and Dorothea (Gerke) Sievers, was born on August 26, 1934 in Newell. She was baptized and confirmed in Newell at the St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Growing up, Phyllis attended grade school and high school in Varina.
On April 15, 1956, Phyllis was united in marriage to Orlen Rohlfsen at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell. Together, they were blessed with two children, Brad and Gail.
Throughout her life, Phyllis was a homemaker and also worked as an aide at the Fonda Nursing Home after Orlen retired from farming.
In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed playing BINGO, cards, and golfing. She was an avid Newell-Fonda sports supporter and loved attending the sporting events. She loved her family and treasured spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Brad (Darlene) Rohlfsen of Omaha, Nebraska and Gail Gregory of Littleton, Colorado; sisters: Lucille Wilkens of Albert City, Iowa and Sally (Gilbert) Wilkens of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Rae (Matthew) Witt of Omaha, Nebraska; Cory (Kaitlin) Rohlfsen of Omaha, Nebraska; Tyler (Aleah) Rohlfsen of Omaha, Nebraska; Eric Gregory of Littleton, Colorado; Jakeb Gregory of Littleton, Colorado; great-grandchildren: Eila Rohlfsen; Theophilus Rohlfsen; Charlotte Rohlfsen; extended family and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Orlen Rohlfsen; parents, William and Dorothea Sievers; brothers-in-law: Walt Wilkens; Melvin Kischer; Laverne Rohlfsen; and Don Rohlfsen; sisters-in-law: Elaine Kischer; Mary Rohlfsen; and Miriam Rohlfsen; and nephew, Paul Wilkens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Newell Good Samaritan Center or St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell.
