SLPD arrest Newell man after being subdued

On the evening of Sunday, May 13, at approximately 7:40 p.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of C49 and Prairie Road for a traffic violation.

Upon contacting the driver identified as Jared Grow, age 41 of Newell, police allege he exited the vehicle and did not cooperate with police. Upon being taken into custody he resisted officers and was subdued.

Police allege that Grow had a quantity of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia in his possession. Police further allege he was driving under the influence of a suspected controlled substance.

Grow was evaluated by a SLPD Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and following an investigation was charged with OWI, Possession of Methamphetamine (both serious misdemeanors), Interference With Official Acts and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (both simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1000 bond.

Grow’s vehicle was impounded and held pending the execution of a search warrant on the vehicle.
