Business Horizons’ 2018 registration open for high school students

Wednesday, March 7, 2018

The Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) Foundation is now accepting applications for Business Horizons, Iowa’s ultimate college and career summer program for high school students (grades 9-12). During the week, participants gain unique hands-on experience in the world of business and entrepreneurship, learn about career opportunities in Iowa, develop their leadership and workplace skills and much more.

Business Horizons 2018 will take place July 15-19 on the campus of Central College in Pella. Students who apply before May 15 will receive priority consideration and a $60 discount on registration. Applications will be accepted until early-July or until the program is full.

Students will work with a team to develop a product and launch a mock business while participating in exciting competitions and challenges, including an investor pitch to a panel of volunteer business people and entrepreneurs. Students will also hear from expert speakers on topics like personal finance, participate in a business simulation, visit local businesses and take part in fun evening activities.

Business Horizons is a great opportunity for students who have the desire to learn what it takes to be successful in business, find a career direction and discover their personal strengths. Students develop lifelong friendships with peers from across the state and meet a variety of Iowa professionals who work with participants throughout the week. Business Horizons also offers a Media Track for students interested in journalism and communications hosted by the Iowa Newspaper Foundation.

As an added benefit, participants have the opportunity to earn college credit, as well as a scholarship to Central College. Regardless of career interest, Business Horizons is a fun and worthwhile experience for all high school students wanting to prepare for their future.
