Finalists named for 2018 George Wythe Award
Four professors have been selected as finalists for Buena Vista University’s 2018 George Wythe Award for Excellence in Teaching. They are:
• Ms. Miranda Pollock, assistant professor of graphic design
• Dr. Gwen Hart, associate professor of English
• Dr. Bethany Larson, professor of theatre
• Dr. Andrea Frantz, professor of digital media
The recipient of the award, which was endowed by the late Paul and Vivian McCorkle, will receive a sabbatical and a $30,000 stipend for faculty development. The winner will be announced at the Faculty and Staff Recognition Dinner on May 25.
The 2018 Wythe Award Selection Committee included Dr. Robbie Ludy (chair), professor of special education; Dr. Melinda Coogan, professor of biology; Dr. Benjamin Maas, assistant professor of environmental science and geology; Ms. Beth Blankers, professor of accounting and assistant dean of the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business; Mr. Jerry Johnson, assistant professor of digital media; Dr. Wind Goodfriend, professor of experimental psychology and assistant dean of graduate studies; and Dr. David Klee, associate professor of instrumental music and director of jazz studies/music production & technology.
