Sioux Central chefs create menu for 2018

Sioux Central High School’s Delish  Central is opening for its seventh season.  Students have been working hard to create a fun-filled and delicious menu, and the public is invited to join in. Make reservations early as they fill up quickly. Reserve a meal at least one week in advance by calling 712-283-2571. Here are the meals planned for 2018:

(February 2) Beef Roast - Head Chef: Kayla Morfitt, A slow cooked beef roast with roasted carrots will leave you with a mouth watering sensation. Smooth mashed potatoes smothered in a brown gravy will be on the side with a freshly baked garlic parmesan roll. To end, apples will be served topped with a crunchy granola with our famous apple crisp.

(February 23) Shrimp Chowder - Head Chef: Shera Smith, For starters, cleanse your palette with a burst of freshness from a rainbow fruit salad. This vibrant mixture will include all of your favorites: pineapple, strawberries, and kiwis. Next, the table will be gifted with hearty bowls of shrimp chowder, paired with homemade sourdough bread. To round out the meal, a rich hot fudge brownie will be served with a dollop of homemade whipped cream.

(March 2) French Toast Bake - Head Chefs: Grace Berberich & Kayla Morfitt, For the meal, the entrée will be a gooey caramelized French toast bake. A strawberry almond salad will add a pop of color to your plate and cheesy hash brown casserole will accompany your palette with a burst of flavor. To conclude this meal, there will be served a mixture of smooth and crunchy raspberry pretzel salad.

(March 16) Chicken Gnocchi Soup - Head Chef: Devyn Anderson, An Italian creamy soup made with roasted chicken, spinach, carrots and traditional Italian dumplings served with everyone’s favorite Olive Garden style house salad and breadsticks. To tie things up, dessert is a creamy, dreamy, rich cheesecake with fresh strawberry topping.

(March 23) Honey Garlic Chicken Stir Fry - Head Chef: Grace Berberich, The main course is a honey garlic chicken stir fry. This will be accompanied by a vegetable egg roll and a bowl of coconut mango sticky rice. The meal will be topped off with a zesty fruit sorbet containing a mixture of strawberry, blueberry, and pomegranate flavors.

(April 6) Authentic Mexican Torta - Head Chef: Leslie Salazar, Grab your sombrero and head to the fiesta, as you experience Mexican street food like never before. Delish Central will present you with an authentic Mexican Torta sandwich filled with traditional refried beans, lettuce, asada steak, cheese, avocados, and tomatoes. On the side you will be served Mexican sweet corn which contains mayonnaise, cheese, lime, tajin, and a hint of cilantro. Last but not least, the meal will be completed with a homemade Tres Leche cake, accompanied by sweet strawberries.

(April 13) Roasted Chicken Breast with Bacon - Head Chef, Sydney Sundblad: Enjoy a wonderful hearty meal with a roasted chicken breast topped with thick applewood bacon and coated with monterey jack cheese. Succulent oven roasted baby red potatoes tossed with garlic and parmesan seasoning will be on the side. To add some color to this plate, we will provide fresh green beans with crunchy almond slices and salty bacon pieces. The meal will end with a refreshing lemon cheesecake mousse.

(April 20) Toasted Turkey Bacon Avocado - Head Chefs: Leslie Salazar & Shera Smith, Upgrade your BLT with this grilled version, jazzed up with turkey, cheese, and avocado. On the side, enjoy a twist on a traditional mac and cheese with an ooey, gooey white cheddar version. Top it off with ultimate Oreo frozen dessert and leave satisfied.

(May 4) Honey Barbecue Chicken Wrap - Head Chefs: Devyn Anderson & Sydney Sundblad, Juicy chicken breast coated in tangy barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, lettuce, crunchy tortilla strips, and a touch of ranch all wrapped up in a tasty spinach tortilla. This tangy wrap will be paired with a garlic parmesan take on tater tots and a side of fruit paired with a marshmallow dip. For the most important part of the meal, dessert with be an Oreo and pudding layered “chocolate lasagna.”
