Officers arrest local for theft and forgery at SL business

On the morning of Tuesday, December 5, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department took a report in reference to an internal theft at the Storm Lake Bomgaars Store located on North Lake Avenue.

Police were advised by the reporting parties that an employee at the Bomgaars Store, identified as Abigail Clark, age 19 of Early, and allegedly stole over $7000 in cash by forging customer names and completing fraudulent returns for cash within the store and then keeping the money.

The SLPD conducted an investigation and located Clark at the Bomgaars Store on Tuesday where she was taken into custody and transported to the police station for questioning.

Following an investigation the SLPD charged Clark with Ongoing Criminal Conduct (class B felony), Theft 2nd Degree (class D felony) and 5 counts of Forgery (class D felony). Clark was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

During the investigation police responded to 804 Geneseo Street where they recovered over $400 in merchandise purchased with the stolen money from Bomgaars.

While at the Geneseo address police met with a Connor Voss, age 18 of Storm Lake. Police allege they observed drug paraphernalia in plain sight at the residence and police further allege they acquired information that Voss was involved in an unrelated theft incident at the Casey’s Central Store located at 825 Flindt Drive which occurred on December 4.

Police arrested Voss and charged him with Theft 5th Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (both simple misdemeanors). Voss was booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.
