SLMS students selected to perform in Iowa’s Opus Honor Choir

Seven students from Storm Lake Middle School were selected this fall to participate in the 32nd annual Iowa Opus Honor Choir Festival. Over 3,000 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition. These students are under the direction of Mrs. Jolene Schaefer, Storm Lake Middle School. Guest conductors of the choirs included: Jennifer Walker of Novak Elementary School, Marion; Corky Koerselman of Northwestern College in Orange City; Melody Easter-Clutter or Indianola High School, Indianola; and Matthew Armstrong of Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska.

The Opus Honor Choirs performed on Thursday, November 16 at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is under the auspices of the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc.
