SLHS students performed at Iowa All State Festival
Nine students from the Storm Lake High School music program have attained the highest individual honor available to an Iowa high school musician by being selected as a member of the 2017 All-State Chorus, Orchestra or Band.
The 2017 Festival celebrated the 71st anniversary of this prestigious event.
The northwest district auditions for the 281-piece All-State Band, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, October 21, at Storm Lake High School.
Approximately 17 percent of the students who auditioned were selected for membership in the All-State ensembles.
Participants rehearsed in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18. The Festival Concert was presented to the public at 7:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum, on November 18.
The All-State Chorus was directed by Dr. Stephen Alltop of Chicago, Ill. Maestro Sey Ahn directed the All-State Orchestra ensemble.
Iowa native, Dr. James Ripley, of Carthage University directed the All-State Band.
