Alta-Aurelia girls XC takes second place at Ida Grove meet
IDA GROVE - The Warrior girls earned a second place finish on Monday night in a meet on the road. The ladies second place finish was out of 12 scoring teams and the boys finished fifth out of nine teams.
“This was the first meet of the year that felt like a cool, fall cross country meet day,” AA Coach Wendell Larson said. “Once again our girls beat a ranked 2A team (Shenandoah who were ranked #10.) I was pleased with their second place finish.”
Alicia Turnquist led the way with a 12th place finish for the Warrior ladies, completing the course in 21:41. Lily Peterson ran a 21:58, good for 17th. Alexa Fredricksen finished in 19th after running a 22:05. Clara Candelario took 20th after a time of 22:12. Jessica Flaherty took 31st, Carly Drenth 33rd and Kirah Kolpin 50th.
“The boys team also ran very strong as a team, finishing fifth out of 19 schools that were there. This was the last meet before we had into the conference and state qualifying competition,” Larson said.
Trey Engleman had the high finish for the boys, taking 10th place with a time of 18:31. Teagan Meyer ran an 18:44, good for 13th place. Diogo Sliefert finished 42nd, Tate Brechwald 43rd, Conrad Falck 59th, Michael Kueny 49th and Tyler Gaes 78th.
The Twin Lakes Conference meet will be held on Saturday in Sioux Rapids beginning at 9 a.m.
