Ridge View students earn recognition for Extra Curricular Activities
Two different groups of Ridge View High School students recently achieved recognition for their efforts in extra curricular activities.
On September 27, Brooklyn Albers, Alex Movall, Russell Brummer and Katlyn Wiese, members of the Ridge View HS FFA Chapter, competed against 20 other teams at the District Soil Contest at Dordt College in Sioux Center.
The team tied for first on the 40 question written exam. After taking this exam, students were then split up into different groups to judge four different “pits” of soil.
Individual scores were then calculated into a team score, and this team score earned the Ridge View students fifth place at District, and the right to move on to the State Soil Competition.
Four Ridge View students who are members of the school’s dance team also recently earned recognition, as those girls - Mercedes Juelfs, Sierra Deck, Lexi Phillips and Beth Meyer - were notified that they have been selected to be members of the All-Iowa Honor Dance Squad.
