Register now for STEM and the ARTS Festival on Oct. 7 at Buena Vista University

Register your middle school aged child for “STEM and the ARTS Festival” hosted by Buena Vista University and Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach 4-H and Youth Programs on Saturday, October 7 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

STEM and the ARTS Festival is for all youth ages 9 to 14, grades 4th to 8th. Since 2012, students in Northwest Iowa have enjoyed this “STEM-ulating” and “ART-astic”day.

Buena Vista University faculty, area science and art teachers, 4-H volunteers and ISU Extension and Outreach staff offer fun-filled, mind-blowing, STEM-ulating activities to help area youth experience the exciting applications of STEM and the ARTS. The event is FREE for the first 100 middle school aged registrants.

Check-in is from 8:45–9 a.m. with sessions starting at 9 a.m. Participants choose a color track during registration selecting activities for four sessions.

There are many topics to choose from. Some tracks include: Robotics, DNA Discovery, Cyanotype Photography, NASA Space Touchdown, Nature Journaling, Crazy Chemical Concoctions and more!

Registrants will enjoy lunch at the college food service generously sponsored by Buena Vista University and the Northwest Iowa STEM Hub.
