Rally F. Roberts
Rolly F. Roberts, age 95, of Storm Lake, died Friday, September 8, at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery with military rites by the Alta VFW Post 6172. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Rolly F. Roberts was born December 29, 1921 in Aurelia, the son of Roy and Helen (Leber) Roberts.
On October 9, 1942, Rolly joined the United States Navy. He was sent to Pearl Harbor following the invasion of the Japanese, then went and served on the USS Arkansas as a Ships Cook Second Class. Rolly was honorably discharged on December 12, 1945.
Rolly was united in marriage to Ada Marie Pryor on February 5, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Together, the couple was blessed with two children: Raymond G. on October 21, 1946, and Danny L. on March 5, 1947.
In 1957, Rolly was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake where he was currently a member.
Rolly was a faithful member of the Alta VFW Post #6172 for many years.
Each morning, Rolly could be found sitting at the round table at HyVee having breakfast with the guys. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Ada Marie Roberts of Storm Lake; children: Raymond G. Crees of Des Moines; Danny L. (Sandra) Alderson of Cortez, Florida; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; brothers: Guy Roberts of Missouri; Herbert (Carmen) Roberts of California; Luther Roberts of Missouri; sisters: Tena Jones of Florida; Phyllis (Dennis) Guthrie of Missouri; sisters-in-law, Harriet Roberts of Alaska; Barbara (Hale) Pember of Iowa; extended family and friends.
Rolly was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen Roberts; brothers: Cliff, Clovis, Raymond, and Leonard; and sisters: Doris Rea and Darlene Williamson.
