Prairie Lakes AEA is offering a course that would allow an individual to be a substitute teacher. This class is for those who want to be a substitute teacher in Iowa schools and don’t have a teaching license. Anyone who meets the following criteria can receive a Substitute Authorization license:

Has earned a bachelor’s degree OR Iowa Paraeducator certification; and Is at least 21 years old; and passes the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and National Criminal History background checks; and completes a Substitute Authorization course.

Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 16, Sept. 23, and Oct. 7 at the Prairie Lakes AEA office in Pocahontas. (Attendance at all classes is required.) Cost is $100 per person which includes materials. Registration deadline is Sept. 6.
