Local student awarded P.O.E. Scholarship
Emma Kaskey, a graduate of the Alta-Aurelia High School, has been named the recipient of the Alta P.O.E. Scholarship. Emma was honored at the P.E.G. Spring Brunch on April 22 at Lake Creek Country Club.
Emma is the daughter of Mike and Jennifer Kaskey of Alta. Emma was chosen out of many applicants from Alta-Aurelia senior class. She plans to attend Iowa State University this fall majoring in human nutritional sciences and will then pursue a career in podiatry.
Emma has been active in multiple activities during her high school career including academics, extra curricular activities, community, and church. She has been recognized in all areas as a leader, setting an example for those she has been involved with.
She is a member of National Honor Society, AntiBullying club, 4-H and on the 4-H council, Sunday School and Bible School teacher.
She participated in volleyball, serving as co-captain, track, choir, lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Aurelia pool, and yearbook committee.
Emma served as an AAU volleyball coach, volunteers at AIM at Melanoma walk and during school conferences provides child care.
She shares her love of dance with others through Deborah’s School of Dance.
The P.O.E. scholarship is awarded yearly by the Alta P.O.E. chapter GB to a graduating senior from the Alta-Aurelia high school.
The recipient is chosen based on several factors including academic excellence, leadership, school and community involvement. P.O.E. is a philanthropic women’s organization where women celebrate the advancement of women. P.O.E. helps women achieve their highest aspirations by providing scholarships, grants, awards and loans.
