Four Storm Lake High School students were selected to attend the Iowa Youth Institute at Iowa State University on April 24. Students followed the guidelines for the World Food Prize Paper and analyzed a developing country, investigated a factor in food security, and provided a recommendation that could help increase food security in their selected country. These four SLHS students will be part of a group of 322 students from 132 Iowa high schools that will participate in roundtable discussions with experts in global hunger issues. Students’ agenda for the day includes sharing and discussing their papers, listening to keynote speakers Krysta Harden from Dupont Pioneer, and Governor Terry Branstad, and participating in immersion sessions at Iowa State. The World Food Prize Iowa Youth Institute is an exciting and inspiring opportunity for our students to be part of solving world problems, networking with like-minded peers, and interacting with leaders in research and industry.
