Keeping your customers at home - Customer Service Short Course in Storm Lake

Provide your staff skills on how to impress customers with memorable service at a Keeping your Customers at Home Customer Service Short Course to be held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-10 a.m. from June 6th - June 29th at the Iowa Central Community College Storm Lake Center Room 10.

There is no cost for the short course and the course is limited to 18 participants. The customer service short course is sponsored by Iowa WORKS & the Iowa Central Community College Storm Lake Center.

Keeping your customers happy is one of the most important parts of running any organization. However, sometimes your employees may not have the skills necessary to provide the best service possible. This free customer service short course will help fix that! Whether it’s over the phone or in person, employees will learn to be attentive, listen to customers’ needs, and handle tough situations in a professional manner.

Facilitator, educator and local Storm Lake Small Business Owner Pam Rust will cover these key customer service training points:

• How to make a great first impression - Crucial do’s and don’ts for basic telephone courtesy

• Staying open minded and avoid jumping to conclusions – Communicating customer feedback

• Creating personal relationships with your customers and Dealing with the Irate Customer

By the time your staff has experienced everything this program has to offer, they’ll be more than prepared for any customer service situation that might arise.

Customer Service short course facilitator Pam Rust received her Business Education degree from Buena Vista University and went on to get her Master’s from Morningside College along with a certification in PreK-12 Administration. Education has been an important part of her life for twenty plus years and she has taught both at the high school and college level. She enjoys using her education/knowledge of the business world to coach and support others in their learning.

Pam is also the co-owner of Rust’s Western Shed along with her husband Mike. They started small in 1985 and have expanded their business three times over the past thirty plus years, most recently adding Rust’s Menswear & Tuxedos. She believes their success is due to understanding the needs of their community, providing quality products, and above all, providing excellent customer service.
