Local students participate in Iowa Central Competition Day
SLHS sent 60 students to Iowa Central in Fort Dodge on March 29, to compete in competitions in auto, business, industrial tech and health. There were around 500 students from 17 different schools competing. Congratulations to the following SLHS students that placed in their respective competitions:

The entire Health Competition crew from Storm Lake won a trophy for best Team Unity and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Aaron Villarreal, Drew Binning, Alonzo Rios, Mickey Vasquez, August Satibanchong, Cynthia Placido, Carlos Ayala, Katya Orapeza, Ana Tapia, Julie Stark, Danielle Reyes, Ali Bonagura, Haley Redenbaugh, Karole Iraheta and Nareda John.
Two Storm Lake St. Marys High School students earned awards at the 2017 Iowa Central Community College Business Competition Day Wednesday, March 29. Ben Peters placed first in the Graphic Design Promotion contest, receiving a first place medal and a scholarship to ICCC. Peters also placed in the Spelling and Vocabulary Contest, receiving a fifth place certificate. Will Hurd placed fourth in the Accounting I contest and received a certificate.
Junior and senior students Zach Roling, Ben Peters, Will Hurd, Andrew Polich and Judd Sennert participated in a variety of events ranging from Marksmanship to Accounting, Spelling and Vocabulary, Graphic Design Promotion and an Internet Scavenger Hunt. St. Marys business educator Tracy Schultz escorted the students.
