Transition times with children workshop to be held January 17 at ISU Extension Office

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

“Most early childhood professionals say transitions between activities are especially difficult times for young children,” explains Dr. David Brown, ISU Extension family life program specialist. For young children, moving from place to place, activity to activity, can be filled with tears, screaming, and tantrums. This program will focus on helping children as they move from one activity to another throughout the day.

Improving Transition Times is a workshop for child care providers, parents, grandparents and teachers. It will help you to smooth transitions and make them productive, fun times for children and stress free for adults.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, January 17th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Buena Vista County ISU Extension Office, 824 Flindt Dr. in Storm Lake. Registration is $15 and payable to the Shelby County ISU Extension Office by January 17th.

Child care providers are encouraged to also register via the Iowa Child Care Training Registry at Two hours of licensing credit will be available to providers. Parents, grandparents and teachers may register directly with the Extension office. For more information, call (712) 732-5056.
