Pint Sized Polkas visits AC-T Elementary

“Uncle Mike” Schneider visited AC-T Elementary on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd and presented his “Real American Heroes” polka program. Mike, a Wisconsin native, is a professional accordion player who travels all over the United States to public libraries, schools, and fairs with his Pint Sized Polka events.

Older students enjoyed a brief visit from Uncle Mike in their classrooms, where they learned how an accordion works (it is similar to a harmonica with air traveling in both directions), and how one becomes a professional player. Many questions were answered, such as how heavy an accordion is and how much one costs.

All preschool – 6th grade students, as well as members of the community, enjoyed music about Amelia Earhart, Paul Bunyan, and Casey Jones, and also other fun classics such as “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,” and the “Chicken Dance.” Movement and audience participation was encouraged.

This program was sponsored by the Albert City Library, PACT parent group and the Albert City Music Boosters.
