At 90, more miles for Bob
I inadvertently told a half truth in a previous Letter to the Editor when I mentioned that my 90 year old friend, Bob, was planning on biking 15.2 miles Saturday at the Jack 15 in South Dakota, instead of running the race like he did in 2015 and 37 other years. Actually Bob ended up biking 30.4 miles that day because when he reached the finish line in Brookings, he promptly turned around and rode his bicycle all the way back to the start in White, SD in order to retrieve his car.
Then after a quick shower and change of clothes, he rushed to one of the events in the community, Festival of Books, where noted writer, John Brant, had traveled from Oregon to promote his latest two biographical books. Without using any notes, Bob impressed the audience with his eloquent introduction of the author, then immediately after the presentation, headed out to a SDSU fundraising reception.
When I grow up, I want to be just like Bob.
